Five tables worth the drive

Every one of these is highly rated on both TripAdvisor and Yelp — not just one of them — and we measured every drive time from our own front door rather than taking it from a brochure.

One more, if you are making a day of it

English Mountain Trout Farm & Grill is 4.8 on Tripadvisor across 920 reviews, and you catch your own trout from the pond for $5 before they cook it. It is 49 minutes away, which is why it is not on the list above — but families with children tend to decide the drive was the point.

Ten guests, four bedrooms, a hot tub on the deck and the national park twenty minutes down the hill.
